Birdies, breaks and running shoes

It’s been an interesting week to say the least.

Job action, strike, picket line, no picket line, walkout, three days, one day, bargaining, not happening, report cards, class sizes, special needs, wages, legislation… All these words have been whizzing around in my head and I feel like a swirly-eyed cartoon character, dizzy with little birdies encircling my head.

I like to keep things pretty light on this here blog of mine. Perhaps at some point I’ll feel ready to share my own perspective on the issues at hand. For now, all I can say is that giant knot in my stomach and lump in my throat finally subsided this morning when I got to walk back into my classroom and see my kids.  We quietly went about our usual routine and it felt good.

Having been off three days it feels weird that here we are already facing Spring Break. Here’s hoping for some perspective and some peace; some rest and finally a resolution.

Wishing everyone a wonderful, sunny holiday with your loved ones.  (I’m off to run a half-marathon in New York!)

See you on March 26th.
