Zero is the Leaves on the Tree

This is such a lovely little read.

Now that we’ve officially started learning about Addition, Zero is the Leaves on the Tree, written by Betsy Franco and illustrated by Shino Arihara, is the perfect book to get kids thinking about the significance of that mysterious goose-egg of a number.

Zero is the ducks on the pond when the air says winter is coming.

Zero is the sound of snowflakes landing on your mitten.

Zero is the ripples in the pool before the first swimmer jumps in.

Described as “a number that is best defined by what it’s not”, this critical math concept is eloquently captured within the pages of this book.
