Just when you thought they couldn’t possibly get any cuter, they go and show up in their pajamas.
It was an all around fun ‘n’ flannel kind of day. The entire school got into the spirit – even the teachers. (It’s quite something when you see the Principal walking the hallways in his robe and slippers.)
With the excitement of possible snow in the forecast, we spent the day cozied up in our classroom, reading to our stuffed animals and writing about bedtime, of course. It was the perfect topic to demonstrate how great writers can turn the ordinary and everyday, into something extraordinary and special.
We’ve been talking lots about appealing and interesting titles. This one was one of my favourites.
First I read books with my mom, sometimes I read with my dad. Then I exercise. Then I eat. Next I sleep with my dog. My fish helps me to go to sleep.
When I go to bed, I don’t brush my teeth before I go to bed. The first thing I do is go and eat. Sometimes my mom gives me a goodnight kiss. I do not like to close my eyes until I am getting very, very, very sleepy. But when I fall asleep, I gently close my eyes.
That last line is priceless.
Do you know how I go to bed? Well, I first have a shower or a bath. Then I brush my teeth and next I have a story and finally I go to sleep. I cuddle with my stuffed animal.
Can you tell we’ve been working on sequencing words? Notice how he had printed “and” after “sleep”, but then erased it and opted to use a period instead? Makes a teacher proud, I tell you.
First I wash up. Then I look out the window. Next I pat my dog. Finally, nighttime.
A screenplay in the making!!
Kid writing is pretty amazing; but kid writing in pajamas – is just really awesome.
